Bruce Burbidge had long career in U.S. Civil Service

Bruce William Burbidge, 67, died March 18, 2012, in Ft. Mohave, Ariz.

Bruce was born in Hot Springs on Aug. 30, 1944. His family moved to Mobridge in 1949. They owned a chicken farm east of town. Bruce attended grade school at Lincoln and Beadle schools. He went to Mobridge High School, where played baseball and football, graduating in 1962.

Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965. He retired after 20 years of service. Following his military career, he continued his specialty in the Military Intelligence Branch of the U.S. Civil Service.

Following his retirement from civil service, he moved to Ft. Mohave, where he resided until passing.

He is survived by his wife, Birgit, and two sons, Michael and Andreas, who all reside in Weilerbach, Germany, older brothers, Larry Gross (1951 MHS graduate) of Rodeo, Calif., and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father in August of 1949 and his mother in January of 1994.

Bruce’s cremains were taken back to Germany by his wife and son, Andreas. Interment will be in Germany. No memorial is scheduled. Cards and donations can be sent to Birgit Burbidge, 2135, E. Camp Mohave Road, Ft. Mohave, Ariz., 86426.
