Sun Dogs

Large sun dogs appeared on the horizon Tuesday, Feb. 7, as cold air settled into the area. A sun dog is created by light interacting with ice crystals in the atmosphere caused by the colder air settling onto the land mass. They are typically seen in pairs of bright spots to the left and/or right of the sun. The sun dog is usually red, orange and blue in color.
