Christine Iback mass held


Mass of Christian Burial for Christine Iback, 91, of Mobridge was held Saturday, June 9, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Christine passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, at Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.

Christine was born on September 21, 1920, to Bernard and Theresa (Hilzendeger) Meier in rural Logan County near Napoleon, N.D. She grew up near Napoleon and attended rural school.

She married Joseph Iback on October 13, 1941, in Napoleon and they raised five daughters. They made their home on farms north of Braddock where they farmed until they moved to Mobridge in December of 1949.

Christine worked as a nurse’s aid at the hospital and was a waitress at various places.

Joseph passed away May 25, 1992, and she remained living in Mobridge. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society, a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose, and belonged to the coffee clutch and birthday club groups. Christine loved doing arts and crafts and also baked many wedding cakes.

She is survived by five daughters, Lucille McCullough of Pinedale, Wyo., Marilyn (Joe) Kormendy of Selby, Ida (Dave) Klein of Mossy Rock, Wash., Jo (Bob) Little of Great Falls, Mont., and Vicki (Jim) Larson of Sheridan, Wyo.; special daughter, Joann Krumm; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Joseph; one grandson, Christopher Larson; six sisters, Katie, Maggie, Malonia, Barbara, Ida, and Anna; and one brother, Ben.
