No one injured in another accident near Glenham

A two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway12 Thursday, June 14, near the Glenham Cemetery resulted in major damage to both vehicles involved and led to the arrest of one of the drivers.

At about 6:45 a.m., multiple callers reported a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 12 was being driven erratically and had nearly run one vehicle off of the road. Those were followed by a call that reported the vehicle had collided with another east of Glenham.

South Dakota Highway Patrolman Shane Snyder came upon the accident just moments after it occurred.

A 2000 Oldsmobile Alero, driven by Logan Kosters, 20, of Mobridge, was eastbound on Highway 12, when it crossed the centerline, sideswiping a westbound 2011 Dodge Ram driven by Richard Wales, 65, of Mobridge.

According to Snyder, he observed the Kosters’ vehicle was leaving the scene of the accident and driving into Glenham. He apprehended the two people as they left the vehicle and tried to escape on foot.

Kosters was arrested for DUI and hit and run.

None of the three people involved in the accident required medical attention, according to Snyder.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department, Mobridge First Responders and the Mobridge Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
