Brett and Tandy Reilly win Couples Walleye Tourney


A pair of teams from the county seat took the big prizes by finishing first and second at the 2012 Couples Walleye Tourney on Saturday.
Brent and Tandy Reilly of Selby had a big day under a blistering South Dakota sun. The couple used the biggest walleye in the tournament, a 6.31-pounder, to net 16.51 pounds of walleye. Between tourney and Calcutta winnings, the Reilly’s came out of the heat with a cool $1,645.
Fellow Selbyites Gary and Heather Beck came in second with 12.83 pounds and won $975.
Bob and Connie Sukut of Rapid City were third, while Aberdonians Dan and Courtney Davis were fourth and Bob Zimmerman and Ginny Greer were fourth.
Mobridge got into the money with Brian and Tara Kramer catching 10.34 pounds for fifth place and $175.
Tom and Janet Wanttie of Aberdeen were seventh. Bridge City anglers Joe and Amber Lenz sneaked into the final payout slot, taking in $101 for eighth place.
Thirty-nine teams battled temperatures that hovered around 100 degrees and combined to catch 154 walleyes that weighed 238 pounds. Twenty-one teams caught a limit of six fish, while eight teams came to shore without a walleye to put on the scale.
