The Bridge City Coin and Stamp Club is joining forces with the American Numismatic Association (ANA) in an effort to get more young people involved in the collecting and numismatic hobby.

ANA offers a program through which young collectors can earn coins and membership fees. When a student gets three or more As in school he or she can submit a copy of the report card and ANA will send them a coin. This opportunity is available each marking period and they can also obtain a free six-month trial junior ANA membership.

Other ANA programs offer youth a chance to earn early American copper coins by writing articles, school reports, doing presentations or a coin exhibit. The ANA will send a coin for the junior member’s birthday or for getting their friends to join the ANA and begin to earn coins.

Bridge City Coin and Stamp Club will provide free membership to the local club and to the South Dakota State Coin and Stamp Association for students who become ANA members and begin earning coins. Students interested in the programs or in obtaining more information should contact Robert or Cheryl Maisch at 845-5667.

Bridge City Coin and Stamp held its annual winter party at Pizza Ranch on Jan. 7. The next meeting is Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Mobridge-Pollock High School Commons.
