Ray Auske enjoyed a good joke

Funeral services for Ray M. Auske, 70, of Aberdeen, were held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.
Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen under the direction of Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home of Aberdeen.
Ray died Oct. 3, 2012, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
Ray Auske, son of Martin and Mabel (Hansen) Auske, was born Feb. 2, 1942, in Mobridge.
He was united in marriage to Connie Neumiller on Dec. 5, 1959, in Mobridge. To this marriage five children were born.
In 1978, Ray moved to Aberden and began his career at 3-M. He was united in marriage to Mary Mitchell on June 23, 1990. They continued to make their home in Aberdeen where Ray continued to work until his health forced him to retire in 1999.
Ray had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool in his free time. Ray’s greatest joy came from the time he was able to spend with his family.
Grateful for having shared Ray’s life are his wife, Mary of Aberdeen; five children, Robert (Sheila) Auske of Cheyenne, Wyo., Darla Auske of Sioux Falls, Mark (Tammy) Auske of Aberdeen, Margaret (Paul) Swanson of Langford, and Allen (Denise) Auske of Aberdeen; three step-children, Bobbie Jo Halonen of Watertown, Beverly (Jason) Rath of Webster, and Pauline (Mike) Wilson of Webster; one brother, Richard (Shirley) Auske; one sister, Ruth (Chuck) Van Aller; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two brothers, Roy and Jim, and one sister, Ruby Fischer.
