The couple lived in various places because of Cletus’ employment in construction until 1959, when they moved back to Mobridge. Madelyn spent the rest of her adult life in Mobridge. While raising five children in Mobridge, Madelyn began working at Mobridge Livestock Auction and Federal Land Bank. During her recent illness, she was still able to accurately quote zip codes for any town in South Dakota and many in North Dakota.
Madelyn had close friends that formed a bridge club for frequent card games. She spent a great deal of time quilting, which she enjoyed immensely, and was a member of the River Rippers Quilt Guild. She was proud of the many intricate quilts she made. Madelyn was also an avid reader. During the past two years her life was brightened by her two Havanese puppies, Molly and Maggie.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her son, Timothy, her parents, Frank and Mary Scherr, and her brother, Richard Scherr.
