Slater, Pinney named All-BDC, Wagner named honorable mention

Two Lady Tiger seniors have been named to the Big Dakota All-Conference Volleyball Team.
Setter Callie Slater makes the team for the second straight season, while outside hitter Kady Pinney earns a conference nod for the first time.
The Lady Tigers are joined by senior Danielle Dupris of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, seniors Laura Pazour and Jaymee Knippling and junior Kennedy Wagner of Chamberlain, sophomores Jamie Mentzer and Kristen Peterka of Miller, juniors Cassidy Hanson, Sara Husher and Emily Richey of Winner, junior Haley Norman of Stanley and senior Miki Colombe of Todd County.
Lady Tiger sophomore libero Maranda Wagner heads the five-player honorable mention team. She is joined by junior Shayla Gayton of McLaughlin, junior Marquel Shepherd of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, senior Jansen Hunter of Miller and senior Nicole Smith of Stanley County.
The Lady Tigers had a 5-2 record against BDC opponents during the regular season, including a 3-0 record in home and away matches. The Lady Tigers beat Chamberlain 3-0 at home in the regular season opener, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 3-0 in Eagle Butte and McLaughlin 3-0 in Mobridge. They lost two matches to Chamberlain, one at the Big Dakota and another at the Central Conference, but turned around to beat Stanley County and Miller while taking third at the BDC. Mobridge-Pollock added three more wins against conference teams in the postseason, sweeping Stanley County and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte in District 11A before beating Miller 3-1 in the Region 6A championship game.
