New Tribune employee introduced to Rotarians

By Peg Wunder

Linda Meyer of the Mobridge Tribune introduced Haden Bowie when Mobridge Rotary met on Monday, Jan. 23, at the Moose Lodge.

Bowie, who is from Wisconsin, has assumed the position of advertising manager at the Mobridge Tribune. Meyer, who has been in that position for several years, is now the general manager of the Mobridge Tribune. There have been some major changes at the Tribune in the last several weeks and Meyer asked that if people have concerns they should contact the Tribune. Mail delivery of the Mobridge Tribune has been a big problem because of changes at the United States Postal Service and it is being addressed by the Tribune staff. Rotarians offered congratulations to Meyer on her promotion.

Joe Stout introduced Brent Goertzen as the new employee at Stout Funeral Home. Joe and his wife Vicki recently moved here from Oregon. Vicki, who is a nurse, is employed at the Golden LivingCenter.

Michele Harrison, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, reminded everyone of the annual Chamber Banquet Friday night with Williams and Ree providing the entertainment.

The Mobridge Fire Department sent a note thanking Rotary for the continued support Rotary provides each year.

Jan Sayler reported that Diane Hintz asked her to convey the thanks of the Golden LivingCenter for the gifts that were collected for the residents through the Senior Tree Project. They always appreciate them very much.

Katie Gregg reported that the blood drive at the Pizza Ranch was very successful. She thanked Gary Steuck and said that it was one of the most successful blood drives they have had in a long time. There were 16 first-time donors and a large number of people who have given before came in to donate blood in return for free pizza.

The 2011 annual report from the Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics was handed out to each Rotarian.

Dawn Konold was not present to win the 50/50 pot. Dean Tisdall will have the program next week when Rotary meets at noon on Monday at the Moose.
