Eight contestants to take the stage

Mobridge-Pollock seniors will compete for the Snow Queen crown Saturday, Dec. 1, at Scherr-Howe Event Center for the chance to represent the city in state contest held in Aberdeen Jan. 10 through 13, 2013.

There are eight girls involved in this years contest.

Liz Weleba is the daughter of Dave and Loretta Welaba. She is involved in track and in student council. In her spare time, Liz likes to listen to music and being with her friends.

When she graduates, she plans to attend Headlines Academy of Cosmetology in Rapid City and become a massage therapist.

Tabitha Reule is the daughter of Buck Reule and Betsy Reule. Tabitha is active in the Mandan High School debate team, the school newspaper, Mobridge-Pollock track, band and choir.

She plays the violin, trumpet, piano, guitar and mandolin. She also loves art.

She plans to attend the University of North Dakota or the University of Minnesota-Morris to pursue a degree in physical therapy.

Megan Armfield is the daughter of Kelly and Sharon Armfield. She is involved in oral interp, drama, chorus, the Star Spangled Banner group, and student council. When she is not in school she likes hanging out with her friends, listening to music and she also works part-time.

She plans on attending South Dakota State University for a yet-to-be-determined career course.

Whitney Stroeder is the daughter of Eric and Karrie Stroeder. In school she is involved in dance, cheerleading, band, chorus, the Star Spangled Banner group, drama, oral interp, student council and is a member of the National Honor Society.

In her spare time Whitney breathes, eats, sleep, watches TV and wears fake mustaches.

She plans on attending college when she graduates.

Gabbi Chase is the daughter of Jim and Colleen Chase. She is involved in cheerleading, drama, taking statistics for wrestling, choir, and she teaches Catholic education, and swimming lessons.

In her spare time she likes hanging out with her friends, fishing and going to the river, baking and babysitting.

She plans on attending Stewart’s School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls next fall.

Jenna Peterson is the daughter of Richard Peterson and Trudy Peterson. She is involved in cheerleading, chorus and is a Sunday school teacher. When she is not in school she likes to hunt and spend time with her friends.

Jenna plans on attending Bismarck State College to pursue a nursing degree .

Sarah Lawrence is the daughter of Jan and David Lawrence. She is involved in JOM, chorus, football and wrestling cheerleading, and is a Sunday school teacher. When she is not in school Sarah likes to spend time at the river with her family and hang out with her friends.

She plans on majoring in nursing at Bismarck State College in the fall.

Hannah Lawrence is the daughter of David and Jan Lawrence. She is a football and wrestling cheerleader and is also involved in chorus, JOM, and is a Sunday school teacher and music teacher.

She also plans on attending Bismarck State College and pursuing a degree in nursing.

South Dakota Snow Queen is a statewide contest that recognizes young women for their exemplary character. This festival is also a scholarship program, offering the South Dakota Senior Snow Queen a scholarship at the successful completion of her reign.
