Schwartz leads Wolverines past Aberdeen Roncalli

Herreid-Selby Area notched its biggest win of the season, taking down Class A’s second-ranked Aberdeen Roncalli 49-38 in Aberdeen on Friday.
The Wolverines made their move with a 9-0 run in the third quarter. They outscored the Cavaliers 19-7 over the eight-minute stretch to pull ahead 37-25.
Shauni Schwartz put on a free throw shooting display. She hit 19 of 22 shots from the charity stripe, including knocking down 12 of 14 in the fourth quarter. Schwartz finished the game with a 31-point, 13-rebound double-double. She added five of five free throws in the third quarter and scored 23 points in the second half. Kendra Thorstenson added six points.
Defense was a big part of the win. The Wolverines held the Cavaliers to 22-percent shooting.
Morgan Gunderson led Roncalli with 14 points. Mollee Karst added nine points and 11 rebounds.
