Schoenhard wins Webster title

Chase Schoenhard ran his winning streak to 10 matches while claiming the 195-pound championship at the Webster Invitational on Saturday.
Schoenhard won the title in fine fashion, pinning Tyson O’Daniel of Stanley County at the 5:54 mark. He worked his way to the championship match by pinning unattached wrestler Eric Page and edging Brian Peterson of Warner-Northwestern 3-2.
Jaden Madison, Austin Borah and David Jensen earned third-place finishes.
Madison took third at 120 pounds with a one-point 4-3 win over Austin Wiley of Webster Area. He opened with a 31-second pin over Ramsey Johnsen of Aberdeen Roncalli, but was pinned by Jess Karber of Clark-Willow Lake in the semifinals. He worked back to the third-place match with a 4-2 win over Levi Johnson of Webster Area.
Borah defeated Levi Dinger of Warner-Northwestern 6-1 for third at 160 pounds. After an opening round bye, Borah was pinned by Nathan Duerre of Webster Area. He rebounded with a 4-2 win over Rob Wiley, unattached, from Webster Area.
Jensen took third at 182 with an 11-0 major decision over Zach Sumner of Aberdeen Roncalli. Jensen pinned Preston Shea of Deuel at 1:44 in the first round, but was edged 4-2 by Tre Blasdall of Miller/Highmore-Harrold in the semis. He got back to winning with a 50-second pin over Jeremy Smidt of Warner-Northwestern.
Teddy Lopez and Brett Lang added fourth-place finishes.
Lopez battled to fourth wrestling unattached at 195. He stuck Matt Schlosser of Aberdeen Roncalli at 5:32 in the first round before dropping a 10-9 match to Tyson O’Daniel of Aberdeen Roncalli in the semis. He pinned Austin Aalbers of Miller/Highmore-Harrold, but Schlosser turned the trick on Lopez and won a 7-5 match for third place.
Lang won one and lost two while taking fourth at 285. He was pinned by Braxton Fuller of Deuel in the first round before rallying with a pin at 1:41 over Lonnie Rodlund of Tiospa Zina. Jacob Singlin of Webster Area pinned Lang at 4:52 in the third-place match.
The Tigers will kick off the new year by wrestling in the MidDakota Monster in Lyman this weekend.
