Herreid-Selby Area 72 • Ipswich 63

Herreid-Selby Area pulled away quarter by quarter to beat Ipswich 72-63 in the District 6B semifinals in Ipswich on Tuesday.

The Wolverines outscored the Tigers by two points in the first quarter, four points in the second quarter and five points in the third quarter to take a 45-34 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Ipswich won that quarter 29-27, but the damage was done and the Wolverines were on their way to the title game.

Nick Larson led Herreid-Selby Area with a game-high 29 points, while adding four assists and three steals. Dakota Thorstenson won the inside battle with a 17-point, 12-rebound double double. Cooper Schaefbauer hit six of six from the free throw line en route to a 15-point game.

The five Ipswich starters combined for all the team’s points. Logan Secker scored 15, Brayden Thares 14, Lane Myer 13, Cassius Pond 12 and Dustin Northrup 9.

The 12-7 Wolverines advance to take on undefeated Potter County in the District 6B championship game in Ipswich on Friday. The 20-0 Battlers beat the Wolverines 65-60 in Herreid and 68-60 in Gettysburg during the season.

Potter County 58 • Eureka-Bowdle 39

Potter County ran its winning streak to 20 games with a 58-39 win over Eureka-Bowdle in the District 6B semifinals in Ipswich on Tuesday.

The Battlers used a strong defense that did not let Eureka-Bowdle have a double-digit quarter until the fourth quarter. Potter County led by 11 at the half and 18 after three quarters.

Kole Hawkinson led Potter County with 15 points. Chayce Hall scored 11. Five other players scored between five and eight points. David Vander Vorst led the team with seven rebounds.

Tyler Wipf led Eureka-Bowdle with 14 points and seven boards. Josh Raile and Brandon Beutler combined for another 18 points.

Eureka-Bowdle topped Edmunds Central in the play-in game of the District 6B Tournament in Ipswich on Monday.

The game was decided early as Eureka-Bowdle led 14-6 after one quarter and 29-13 at the half.

Josh Raile led the Patriots with 12 points. Tyler Wipf scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. Jesse Weber added eight points.

Ethan Aman led the Raiders with six points and nine rebounds.

District 15B

McIntosh 69 • Tiospaye Topa 40

McIntosh advanced to the semifinals with a 69-40 win over Tiospaye Topa in the District 15B Tournament at Scherr-Howe Events Center on Monday.

McIntosh jumped out right away and led 30-12 at halftime.

Bradyn Beer led a balanced attack with 15 points. Kyle Mollman and Kyle Edinger scored 14 points each and Cole Katus scored 11.

Tyler Pickner led the Thunderhawks with a game-high 22 points.

McIntosh advanced to challenge number one seed Dupree at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Fifth-ranked Dupree is 19-1 and on a 16-game winning streak.

Game two will feature second seed Timber Lake and third seed Wakpala. The Panthers are 8-12, while the Sioux are 9-10.

The District 15B championship game will be Friday at 8 p.m. The 15B tourney is being played in its entirety at Scherr-Howe Events Center.

Herreid-Selby Area finished the regular season with four straight wins after beating Edmunds Central 51-22 in Herreid on Friday.

Both teams struggled to put points up early. Herreid-Selby Area got the lid off the basket in the third quarter with a 20-10 run that gave the Wolverines a 39-19 lead.

Nick Larson led the Wolverines with 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Dakota Thorstenson scored seven points, while Kennedy Kosters and Zach Geller scored six points each.

Brady Aman and Ulises Duran led Edmunds Central with six points each. Ethan Aman led all rebounders with 13 caroms.

Lemmon outscored Wakpala 86-81 in Wakpala in the regular season finale for both squads.

After Wakpala forged a one-point lead with a 26-19 run in the third quarter, Lemmon rallied and outscored the Sioux 21-15 in the fourth quarter.

Lemmon found the range from outside with 13 three-pointers. Bo Beer hit six treys and scored a team-high 24 points. Jaden Shockley hit four bombs and scored 23 points. Jacob Shockley scored 19 and Cash Hetzel scored 11.

Carlin Mellette led the Sioux with a game-high 31 points. Ty Cadotte scored 24 and Teddy Iron Cloud scored 19 before the pair fouled out.
