Iverson, Biel, relay team win events for Wolverines

Herreid-Selby Area earned three wins at the Sisseton/Northern State Indoor Meet at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen on Monday.
Austin Iverson won one event and ran a relay leg in another. Iverson won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.94 seconds to beat Zach Crandall of Britton-Hecla, who ran an 8.12.
Cooper Schaefbauer, Logan Schaefbauer and Nick Larson joined Iverson for first place in the 640-meter relay. The Wolverines ran a 1:23.52, while runner-up Mobridge-Pollock ran a 1:24.37.
Haylee Biel led the Lady Wolverines with a first-place finish in the high jump. Biel had a winning jump of 5 feet, 1 inch. Kristi Pond of Ipswich cleared 4-9 for second.
The Herreid-Selby Area boys added second place finishes with Iverson in the 200, Larson in the 55 and Cooper Schaefbauer clearing 11-0 in the pole vault. Justus Wittorf took third and John Begeman took fifth in the high jump. The 1600-meter relay team took fifth and Karsten Goehring took eighth in the 400.
The girls’ 1600-meter relay team ran to second place and the 640-meter team took fifth. Kendra Thorstenson took third and Charlie Tisdall took fourth in the 800. Biel tied for fourth in the shot put. Grace Goehring took fifth and Kara Thorstenson took seventh in the 400, while McKenzie Frank took seventh in the 3200.
