Girls dominate in Groton

Chelsy Hoffman won her second straight tournament, leading the Lady Tigers to the team win at the Groton Golf Invite on Tuesday.
Hoffman shot an 83 for a three-stroke win. While Samantha Bot of Aberdeen Roncalli shot 86 for second, this day was all about the Lady Tigers. Bot was the only player not a Lady Tiger to land in the top five. Aundrea Kramer shot 95 for third, Miranda Eisemann shot 96 for fourth and Emily Dale shot 98 for fifth.
“We truly dominated this tournament,” said coach Jason Weisbeck, “taking four of the top five and the team championship as well.”
“These girls have had so many personal bests and today was another day that added to these,” said Weisbeck. “In just their fourth tournament, these girls have proven they can play with nearly anyone.”
When your team dominates the leader board, the team totals are skewed. The Lady Tigers won the team score by 45 shots. Mobridge-Pollock shot 372. Second place Aberdeen Roncalli scored 417 and Groton Area scored 422.
“Chelsy now has chalked up two wins and overall we have won three of four meets,” said Weisbeck.
If coach and players have their way, the Lady Tigers will get one more crack at competition before the Region 3A Tournament in Pierre on Monday.
“We are hoping to attend the Pierre invite on Friday,” said Weisbeck. “This will be a good chance for our girls to play against some of the best golfers in the state with most of the field being AA schools.”
