Sonny Raugutt services held


Memorial services for Robert “Sonny” L. Raugutt, 74, of Aberdeen, were held Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab Chapel with Rev. Jeff Whillock officiating.

Sonny died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Robert Lawrence Raugutt, son of Christ and Elsie (Bigelo) Raugutt, was born Jan. 4, 1938 in McIntosh. He grew up in that area and attended McLaughlin High School.

Sonny entered the United States Air Force in 1952 and was on the crew of an aircraft refueler. He was discharged in 1958 and moved to Mobridge where he worked as a farmhand.

He moved to Aberdeen in 1964 and worked construction for Kyburz Construction. In 1967 he moved to Norfolk, Neb., and worked in a beef packing plant. He returned to Aberdeen in 1971 and worked as a farmhand for several area farmers.

He suffered a stroke in 1996 and then became a resident at Aberdeen Living Center, now known as Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Sonny is survived by three sisters, Delores Reiger of Amarillo, Texas, Carol Gossman of Aberdeen, and Judy (Dwight) Sackreiter of Glenham; one brother, Roger Raugutt of Key West, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

Honorary urn bearers were Sonny’s relatives and friends.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Aberdeen was entrusted with the arrangements.
