Belt faces multiple charges


A Mobridge man was arrested for two counts of attempted murder and arson Friday, May 17, after he alledgedly attempted to set a house and person on fire.

According to Mobridge Police Chief Justin Jungwirth, Skye Belt, 22, was arrested after police were called to a First Avenue West home at 11:43 p.m. The caller reported Belt had poured gasoline around the home and was attempting to light it.

Belt, who  has been ordered by the court to not drink and is under house arrest, was taken into custody after he tried to set himself and a neighbor on fire outside of the residence.

He was transported to the Walworth County Jail where he is being held on a $75,000 bond. A preliminary hearing on the incident will be held on June 3, in Fifth circuit Court in Selby.
