Rotary covers several topics at business meeting

Mobridge Rotary met on Monday, May 27 for the monthly business meeting. Chairman Harley Overseth asked if anyone had announcements.
Linda Meyer is looking for workers for the Fourth of July rodeo. She could use a few more workers on July 2 and 3 but as of today she has no workers set up to work the July 4 performance. Anyone wishing to volunteer to work should contact her at the Mobridge Tribune, 845-3646.
Chamber Executive Director Michele Harrison announced the Denny Palmer Fishing Tournament will be held this weekend. The rules meeting will be at Scherr Howe at 8 p.m. on Friday night. As of Monday 61 teams were signed up. Entry fee is $150 and there will be two-man and three-man teams.
The WRT annual meeting will be this weekend. Anyone who is interested in attending that meeting should contact Harley Overseth at Key Insurance 845-3664.
Overseth also reported that our district has lost members and that each club needs to make an effort to increase their membership numbers. John Badgley is in charge of the membership drive, which will be held later this year. The Mobridge club membership is currently at 36 and needs at a minimum, four new members.
It was announced that the club had received a very nice thank you from Alex Greger who received the $500 Rotary Scholarship this year.
Peg Wunder announced that there would be a Mike LaLonde photo workshop on June 14 and June 15. LaLonde is retired after teaching photography for many years at Bismarck College. There will be a two-hour session from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the new conference room of the library with a discussion about the cameras that people in the class own, how to take better photos, and any other topics that may come up. Saturday there will be a field trip to various sites from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The cost of the sessions is $65 and people must pre-register to take the class. Anyone who has questions and/or wants to take the class needs to contact Peg at 845-2060.
Gary Steuck announced that the Mobridge Hospital Foundation has purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat Super Crew equipped with four-wheel drive, chrome package, and leather seats for a fundraiser. Raffle tickets are $100 each and all proceeds will go to the building project. The vehicle will be on display at various events until November 2, 2013 when the drawing will be held at The Moose Club. Tickets will be on sale at all events where the truck is displayed. The winner does not need to be present. To purchase a ticket, call 845-8188 or 845-8128.
Cindi Volk was not present to claim the 50/50 pot. Next Monday Virgil Lenling will present the program when Rotary meets at noon at the Moose Club.
