Edith Elaine Yates, 81, of Lima, Ohio, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at her residence.
Edith was born May 17, 1932, in Mobridge, to Victor and Grace Anderson Hartinger, who preceded her in death.
She married William V. Yates on Nov. 12, 1955.
Edith completed her nurse’s training and was employed at Santa Monica Veteran’s Hospital in St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a volunteer teacher for the Northwest Ohio Literacy Council. She was a Roman Catholic and an avid bowler, golfer and bridge player.
She is survived by her husband, William; two daughters, Kathleen (Bryan) Burkholder of Lima, and Natalie (Josh) Othniel of Independence, Kan.; grandchildren, Nathan (Laura) Burkholder, Nick Burkholder, Noah Burkholder, Nolan Burkholder, Ephraim Othniel, Ben (Michalah) Othniel and Arielle (Patrick) Gustafson; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack Hartinger of Rapid City and Donald Hartinger of Mobridge.
She was preceded in death in 1978 by a son, Timothy Yates.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Lima. Burial was in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, under the direction of Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
