Agencies continue investigation of recent incidents

By Katie Zerr –

The FBI, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Mobridge Police Department are currently investigating a number of incidents that occurred recently and may be connected.

According to Mobridge Police Chief Justin Jungwirth, several incidents, including a burglary at Dady Drug, Sunday, July 7, may be connected and law enforcement are waiting for test results from the state laboratory on evidence from the burglary. He said those results could be the tie that connects these incidents.

According to Jungwirth, an alarm was activated at the Main Street business on at 11:37 p.m. The owner of the business notified police when he found the back door of the business ajar. Jungwirth said that is not where the thief or thieves entered the building. Items stolen from the store may be connected to another incident that occurred on Tuesday, July 9, in Mobridge.

Jungwirth said they have some information that may connect the two incidents, but the lab results are needed to ensure that connection is solid.

Jungwirth said the investigation is still ongoing but expects there will be an arrest in the case in the near future.
