Trent Hammer of Mobridge is soaring past the competition during the North Dakota Motocross Association season. With five races to go, Hammer leads the point standings in the 450 B Class. The sophomore-to-be at Mobridge-Pollock High School is the son of Mark and Sharon Hammer of Mobridge.

Mobridge sophomore-to-be Trent Hammer leads one class and is ranked third in another in the North Dakota Motocross Association circuit.
Hammer leads the 450 B Class with a season total of 394 points. With five races remaining he has a slight four-point lead over Casey Stone of Surry, N.D. Hammer is ranked third in Open B Class with 304 points. Stone and Hunter Huizenga of Menoken, N.D. are tied for first with 330 points.
Hammer has one win and has placed in the top four in nine of the 11 races so far in 450 B Class. His win came in Frederick on June 9. He has runner-up finishes at Jamestown (twice), Mandan, Dickinson and Frederick.
There has not been as much success in Open B Class, where consistent running has Hammer ranked high. His best finish is fourth, but he has done that twice in Jamestown and once in Frederick.
The circuit continues this weekend in Jamestown with races on Saturday and Sunday. There will be races in Bismarck on Sept. 7 and 11 before the season concludes in Jamestown on Sept. 21.
He’s had some more success this season. Hammer picked up four wins at South Dakota Motocross races in Reliance.
This is Hammer’s seventh year competing in the NDMA. He is the son of Mark and Sharon Hammer of Mobridge.
