Danilo passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, near Mobridge.
Kesling Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Danilo Figuracion was born July 30, 1946, at Mexico, Pampanga, Philippines, to Dan and Ely (Tizon) Figuracion. He lived in the Philippines until 1958. The family moved to Hawaii for one year before moving to Lacey, Wash. After living in Lacey for a year, the family moved to Seaside, Calif., where Danny grew up and graduated from Monterey High School. Danny moved to southern California where he met his first wife, Jane, and where his first daughter, Stephanie, was born.
In 1973, Danny met his soul mate, RuthAnn Davis. They were married on May 18, 1974, at Palos Verdes, Calif. After the birth of their two children, Erik Tai and Dawn Marie, Dan and RuthAnn moved back to western Washington in 1978, where they resided until Dan’s retirement from Food Services of America in 2005.
They found their dream retirement home in the town of Mobridge, a fishing and hunting paradise. Dan quickly made friends and made a name for himself as an accomplished and knowledgeable outdoorsman. Ever the helpful person and not one to sit idle, Dan started devoting much of his time to the local community. He participated in and volunteered in local fishing tournaments and archery competitions. But his devotion to the community did not stop there. Dan helped local youth at the archery club, and of course, taught many how to fish. He did whatever he could to ensure their success in hopes of creating new archers and fishermen to share his love of the outdoors. Dan’s patience, understanding, respect, and love for his fellow man touched the community deeply and he will be forever missed.
Dan is survived by his wife, RuthAnn Figuracion of Mobridge; son, Erik Tai (Randee) of Ft. Meade; daughters, Dawn Marie (Butch) of Tacoma, Wash., and Stephanie; four grandchildren, Mychal Tai, Danilo James, Savannah Marie and Erik Tai Jr.; father and mother, Dan and Ely Figuracion of Tacoma; brothers and sisters, Ernesto, Lorna, Rowena, Adora, Noel and Mel; and 29 nieces and nephews.
