Lady Tigers drop three, streak runs to five straight

The Lady Tiger losing streak went to five matches as they dropped three matches this week. The Lady Tigers were beaten 3-0 at Sully Buttes on Thursday, 3-1 at Potter County on Monday and 3-0 by Linton-HMB at home on Tuesday.
“We’re struggling right now,” said coach Keri Bolduan. “We played a lot better in Gettysburg on Monday, but tonight we weren’t moving and communicating. We were slow at the net.”

The Lady Tigers were never in the match against the North Dakota powerhouse Linton-HMB Lions. Linton-HMB jumped out early and won set one 25-10. The Lady Tigers kept it closer in set two but went down 25-18. The Lions pulled away again in set three for a 25-14 win.
Linton-HMB featured an offense that came from all points. The Lions had 44 kills. Nicole Nieuwsma had 15 kills, while four more players had at least six.
Kayleigh Henderson had a strong night for the Lady Tigers. Henderson had 10 kills on 17 of 18 hitting and defended the net with five blocks. Ellie Rabenberg added nine kills. The Lady Tigers were held to two aces. Aundrea Kramer led serving with a 13 of 14, one-ace night. Cassi Heumiller led setting with 16 assists. Maranda Wagner and Kramer led the back row defense with a combined 27 digs.
Taryn Schlosser led the Lions’ serving with five aces. Tiffany Gerving had 34 assists. Schlosser and McKenna Flyberg combined for 23 digs.

Potter County
Potter County ended a four-year, six-match drought against the Lady Tigers with a 3-2 win in Gettysburg on Monday.
The two old rivals fought it out all the way. After the teams swapped 25-23 wins, the Lady Tigers took a 2-1 lead with a 25-20 win. The Battlers tied the match with a 25-21 win and then nailed down the win by edging the Lady Tigers 15-13 in the rubber match.
The big three up front combined for 36 of the Lady Tigers’ 55 kills. Rabenberg was 39 of 46 with 17 kills. Henderson knocked down 12 kills and Kylee Wagner had nine. Heumiller and Becca Martin double-teamed the setting for a combined 39 assists. Chelsy Hoffman led setting with four of the team’s 12 aces. Maranda Wagner had a team-high 29 digs. Rabenberg had 21 and Kramer had 15.
Potter County countered with three players having double-digit kills. Alyssa Haberer had 14, Regan Everson 12 and Alli Lake had 10. Destry Nafziger added nine kills. Morgan Vander Vorst led all servers with five aces. Megan Schrempp had 33 assists and Tara Heuer had 23 digs.

Sully Buttes
Sully Buttes stopped a three-match losing streak to the Lady Tigers with a 3-0 win in Onida on Thursday. The Chargers handled the Lady Tigers 25-12, 25-22, 25-12.
Karlea Stahl had a big night for Sully Buttes. Stahl had 16 kills on 25 of 26 hitting, while adding three blocks, six digs and two aces.
Rabenberg led the Lady Tiger offense with nine kills. Kylee Wagner added seven kills and three blocks. Heumiller had 15 assists and Martin had 10. Martin led the team with two aces. Maranda Wagner had 27 digs.
Briana Hyde and Chloe Lamb backed Stahl up with eight and six kills, respectively. Kayla Nelson had 33 assists.

Time off
The Lady Tigers have a few days off to regroup and getready for a postseason run. They will get the rest of the week off before hosting Leola-Frederick next Thursday on Halloween.
