Funeral services for Chris Dolecheck, 90, of Mobridge, were held Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Family Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Chris passed away Oct. 17, 2013, in Mobridge.
Chris Anthony Dolecheck was born a twin on March 26, 1923, in Dickinson, N.D., to Clementz and Mary (Faiman) Dolecheck. He was raised on a farm near McIntosh, attending country school through eighth grade. Chris graduated from McIntosh High School in 1941.
Chris went on to graduate from National School of Radio and Television, and during his working years did repair work on radios and televisions. In those days antennas were required to get a TV signal. Once when he gave a program for the senior citizens he was introduced as having been on more roofs in Mobridge than Santa Claus.
On Oct. 2, 1954, he married Eileen Myers in the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. They made their home in Mobridge the rest of their lives. After Eileen’s death in February of 2012, Chris continued to live at his home in Mobridge with help from his friends and family.
Chris was a member of the Mobridge Knights of Columbus and served at lector, Grand Knight and district deputy. He loved gardening, particularly growing beautiful flowers. He was president of the Mobridge Garden Club for many years.
Chris is survived by his brother, Franklin (Lola) Dolecheck of Billings, Mont.; his sister, Virginia Norton of Hot Springs; brother-in-law, Les Edinger of Lemmon; along with many nieces, nephews and their children.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; his twin sister, Christine; brothers, Louie, Emil and Albert (Irene); additional sisters, Rose (Carl) Post, Clementine (Dell) Langerman, Veronica (Herb) Stoick, Albina “Beans” Edinger; and brother-in-law, Melvin Norton.
