August Werner dies in Missouri
August John Werner, 98, of Chillicothe, Mo., and formerly of Mobridge, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Hospice House in North Kansas City Hospital.
August was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Gale country west of Herreid, the son of John and Bertha (Wessel) Werner.
He married Lucille Evelyn Kluckman on June 25, 1938. August worked in sales throughout his life, including Mobridge Grocery and Morrell Meats. He retired in 1977, dividing time between Phoenix, Ariz., and Mobridge until 1996. He moved to Missouri around 2000. August loved to flower garden the past 20 years.
August is survived by his sons, Mark (Faye) Werner of Lapwei, Idaho, and Merle (Theresa) Werner of Larkspur, Colo.; friend of the last 17 years, Nadine Silkwood of Chillicothe; brother-in-law, Harlan Kluckman of Selby/Mobridge; five grandchildren, Brett, Todd and Nikki of Oregon and Trace and Shane of Texas; five great-grandchildren, Rainger, Lokesh, Solar, Joshua and Grady; nieces, Judy Werner Fjeldheim, Susan Werner and Nancy White Kindel; and nephews, Robert White, Thomas White and Timothy Kluckman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in September of 1995; his parents; and two brothers, Earl and Herbert.
Burial will be at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis. Lindley Funeral Home of Chillicothe is caring for the cremation.
