Albert “Bert” Peter Keller Sr. was born Dec. 1, 1956, to Peter and Fauneil Keller in McLaughlin. Bert was raised on the family farm near Glencross. He attended school to the sixth grade in Glencross then completed his education at Timber Lake, where he graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1975.
Thirty-seven years ago, Bert married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Scherer, on June 4, 1976, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. They made their home on the Keller family farm where they raised their four sons: Perry, Albert Jr., Alex and Pierce.
Bert and his dad worked together doing farming, ranching and auto restoration. Throughout the years, all the boys helped their dad and grandpa on the farm, and in 2000, Perry returned home to work with Bert and Peter. Bert loved working with family and cherished the time he spent with all of them, especially preparing his famous barbequed ribs for special occasions. He had a passion for restoring classic autos and enjoyed hunting with friends and family, especially coyotes and mountain lions. A hard worker all his life, Bert could always be counted on to help a friend in need, whether it be fixing machinery or working cattle.
Bert is survived by his wife, Patricia; their children, Perry (Stacy), Albert Jr. (Bridget), Alex (Natasha), Pierce (Brianna Kunf) and Chastity Bowling; five grandchildren, Bailey, Gabe, Albert III, Ian and Korbin, and one on the way; parents, Peter and Fauneil; four siblings, Suellen Keller, Lawrence (Lori) Keller, Marcie Keller and Angela (Philip) Manuel; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Scherer; brothers-in-law, Joe (Sheila) Scherer and Dick (Renee) Scherer; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Steve) Gebhart, Marsha (Jerry) McAdams and Lenore (Jim) Smith; uncle, Baldwin Keller; three aunts, Delila, Angeline and Etta Keller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
