Four area homes on Dec. 15 tour
By Katie Zerr
The A.H. Brown Library Tour of Homes offers a variety of homes, from historical to nearly new, for this year’s tour.
The Holiday Hospitality Tour of Homes will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and include four homes and a raffle for a basket of South Dakota made products. There will also be a bake sale at the library during the event.
Homes on the tour include Sylvia Cahill’s home at 705 First Avenue West; Lanet and Wade Duncan at 52 First Avenue West; Janet Auble’s at 314 14th Street West; and Stephanie and Keith Votja’s home at 28822 124th Street.
The Christmas décor of Cahill’s 101-year-old home will include centers around family and church and a little of her Norwegian heritage may also be detected.
The Duncan home reflects Lanet’s love for decorating, which includes nearly every room in the home. Her attention to detail is evident from the tiny quilts hand sewn by Lanet for their sons to the pinecone accents in many rooms.
In a new, smaller home after years of raising children in larger abodes, Auble will display her angel collecting in her new town home. Downsizing hasn’t meant cutting back on the Christmas cheer throughout her new home.
The Vojta home is surrounded with breathtaking views and their decorating takes full advantage of the space in the home. From the Mediterranean décor of the main floor to the less formal lower level, the tour promises to be enjoyable for all.
Participants are urged to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
Tickets for the event are available at the library, Homespun or Northside Flowers in Mobridge.
