Auxiliary plans party, Girls State meeting

Girls in the Mobridge-Pollock High School junior class are invited to a March 7 pizza party and informational meeting about Girls State.
The meeting will be held 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the commons area of Mobridge-Pollock High School. Invitations are being sent to girls in the MPHS junior class. Brochures will be handed out and auxiliary members are arranging for former Girls Staters to speak at the event. The auxiliary is considering sponsoring two attendees. The application deadline is April 1. Lillian Wientjes and Jan Payer are in charge of the event.
A motion was made and approved for the donation of $50 to Special Olympics. The group received a $20 donation from Jan Fruedenthal in memory of Diana Rueb.
Jan Wales reported that membership is at 149. Membership dues were raised to $18 with $14 being sent to the national organization. Junior dues will stay at $3.
Valentine favors were made after the meeting and delivered to assisted living. The auxiliary will volunteer to fill Easter eggs as a March community service project. A tentative date of Oct. 13 was set for the Holiday Fair.
The District 4 meeting is March 31 in Leola. The social starts at noon, banquet is at 1 p.m. and the meeting is at 2 p.m.
