For four minutes, it looked like the Lady Tigers were going to give the Cavaliers a run for their money on Monday in Aberdeen. But when the wheels came off, they fell all the way off.
Aberdeen Roncalli led 11-8 midway through the first quarter, but then scored the last nine points of the first quarter. The Cavaliers outscored the Lady Tigers 16-0 in the second quarter and the scored the first five points of the third quarter for a 30-0 run that turned the three-point game into a 41-8 blowout. The Cavaliers walked away with a 65-20 win.
“We had trouble taking care of the ball,” said Coach Ann LaMont. “We will use this game as a learning experience to help us improve as a team.”
Chelsy Hoffman was hot early and had six of the Lady Tigers’ first eight points. She finished with a team-high nine points. Alexa Schaefbauer scored five points. ReAnne Kohlus, in her first start, contributed two points and a team-leading five rebounds.
“Offensivley we had some good looks, but we failed to convert,” said LaMont.
Paige Sommers led three Cavaliers in double digits with 17 points. Kate Heintzmann scored 13 and Taylor Morgan scored 12. Emily Bohle contributed with six points and five rebounds.

Britton-Hecla
The Lady Tigers stayed with Britton-Hecla at times on Saturday, but could not match up on the inside against a Braves team that featured four starters taller than the tallest Lady Tiger.
Britton-Hecla runs proved to be the difference. The Braves had a 12-4 run in the second quarter, followed by a 9-0 run in the third quarter. By the end of the third quarter the visitors had a 16-point lead.
Although the Lady Tiger defense did a good job and held the Braves to 26 points less than they had scored the night before, the height disadvantage proved to be too much.
“I was impressed with our defense,” said LaMont. “It was a lot better than it was on Thursday. Our rebounding was a lot better too.”
Chelsy Hoffman had a big game for the Lady Tigers with team highs of 14 points and eight rebounds. Aundrea Kramer scored seven points. Kaitlin Good Shield chipped in with three points and five rebounds.
Kassi Jones led Britton-Hecla with 16 points, including 11 in the first half. She also led her team with eight rebounds. Ashley Fosness and Emily Bremmon added nine points and six boards each.

Braves
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte exploded for 18 points in the third quarter to put a gap in the score and go on to defeat the Lady Tigers 57-32 at home on Thursday in the season-opener.
The Braves built a 25-15 halftime lead by going inside to 5’11” Tiffany Shaving, who scored 13 points in the first half. The entire team got into the act in the third quarter when eight different players put points on the board. But it was the effect of the center’s play that set the stage for the second-half rally.
“There is not a whole lot you can do sometimes,” said LaMont. “Especially when the post players can simply turn and shoot.”
Shaving led the Braves with 17 points and eight rebounds. Theola Shad added 10 points as 10 different Cheyenne-Eagle Butte players scored in the game.
Alexa Schaefbauer led the Lady Tigers with 10 points. Aundrea Kramer scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Lady Panthers
The Lady Tigers host the Lady Panthers of Timber Lake on Thursday. Tipoff for the first game is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Tigers hold a 29-11 record against Timber Lake in a series that dates back to 1975. The Lady Panthers exacted a little revenge on Mobridge-Pollock with a dominating 70-21 win in Timber Lake last season.
