Democracy depends on citizen involvement

Share

We live in a democracy in which the people are supposed to have a voice in government. We cast ballots for those we feel will represent our  ideals in Washington.

Our responsibility does not end there. It is one of our rights as Americans to voice our disapproval of our government and the manner in which issues are handled in government. But if we complain only to those who will listen but have no power to make changes, we are wasting our voices. That is why it is important to contact those who work for us in Washington. That is also true on the state level. Each year in Pierre issues are debated that concern the daily lives of South Dakotans. Again this year the South Dakota legislature will be discussing funding for education, Medicare and Medicaid. These are all very important to the Mobridge area and our medical community.

We need to know how our representatives vote and let them know how we expect them to represent us.

Following is the contact information for our Congressional delegation and for District 23 representatives.

It is published for your convenience in hopes that you will contact those who are your voice in national and state issues.
