Frieda Giese dies in Bloomington, Minn.


Frieda K. Giese, 91, of Bloomington, Minn., and formerly of Mobridge, was welcomed into her Savior’s loving arms on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012.She was preceded in death by parents Katherine and Henry Brandner; sisters Beatha, Amelia, and Ida; brothers Ferdinand and Art.

Frieda was married to Irvin Giese in 1940. After living in Jacksonville, Fla., while Irvin served in the U.S. Navy, they moved to Bismarck, N.D., then to Mobridge where they made their home and raised their two daughters, Bonnie and Carol.

She worked as a teller for more than 30 years at Northwestern National Bank in Mobridge and Norwest Bank in Minneapolis, Minn., until her retirement in July 1983.

Frieda loved music and taking organ lessons in retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She is survived by: daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Buechler, and Carol (Steve) Larson; grandchildren, Paul (Tina) Kosel, Angela (Jeremy) Anderson, and David (Tirzah) Larson; and six great grandchildren. Service of Resurrection was held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Richfield Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and burial took place at Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington under the direction of Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel.

Memorials preferred to Richfield Lutheran Church or The Minnesota State Services For The Blind.
