District commander meets with members of Legion Post 4

District 4 Commander Paul Douglas attended the Parker-Browder American Legion monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 5, to invite members to the district Legion meeting. The district spring meeting is Monday, April 7, in Hosmer with social hour at 5 p.m. and the meeting at 6 p.m.
The post charter was draped for the late Earl Burns, age 89. Legion Post 4 provided military funeral honors on March 7.
Americanism chairman John Riley reported that to date there have been no candidates come forward for Boys State.
Membership chairman Virgil Binfet reported that 140 of 161 members have paid their current year dues. The Mobridge post is at 90 percent of its membership goal, District 4 is at 85 percent and the State Department is at 89 percent. Mobridge Post 4 is one of 108 Posts in South Dakota to be receiving honor ribbons at the spring district meeting for achieving their Jan. 15, 2014 membership goal.
Leo Rookey reported that the South Dakota County Veterans Service Officers have been tasked to attempt contacting all 75,000 veterans living in South Dakota. Leo, as the Walworth County Veterans Service Officer, will be seeking to contact the 560 Walworth County veterans reportedly living in this county.
The next meeting of Parker-Browder American Legion Post 4 will be Wednesday, May 7 at the post home with dinner at 7 p.m. and the meeting to follow.
