The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in a case in which a large amount of tack was stolen from a barn north of Mobridge.

According to Walworth County Deputy Shawn Fox, a thief or thieves used a vehicle, sometime between the evening of Sunday March 16 and about 6 p.m. March 17, to take the tack from the barn. He said the stolen items includes saddles and bridles along with other items.

He said there is a $500 reward being offered to anyone who has information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those who stole the tack.

“If someone is offering to sell tack at an unusually low price that is an indication it could be stolen,” he said.

Fox said officers gathered evidence at the scene and are currently tracking down leads from the community. He asked that anyone who might have seen something out of the ordinary or has information about someone having a large amount of tack for sale or any other information they feel might be connected to the theft, to call the Walworth County Sheriff’s officer at 649-7600.
