Germaine Keepseagle, 74, of Ft. Yates, N.D., passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Vibra Hospital in Mandan, N.D.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ft. Yates.
Burial, beside her mom and dad, will be held at a later date at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Stout Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Germaine was born on Feb. 14, 1940, at Ft. Yates Hospital to Paul and Lucille Keepseagle. She was raised and educated in Ft. Yates. She then went to Bismarck, N.D., and graduated from Interstate Business College.
She worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Housing, Elderly Protection Agency and Voting Commission.
She made a wonderful home for all children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to come back to. She loved to read, watch Antiques Road Show, M*A*S*H and old James Bond movies. She liked to go to the casino and socialize with friends. Powwows were her joy in youth and as time went on. She loved Christian music, country music and attending mass.
Germaine is survived by three sons, Ivan Garza, Carlos Garza and Louis Garza; two daughters, Carol Garza and Lucille Garza; two grandchildren, Jeremiah Cadotte and Laundi Keepseagle; three great-grandchildren, Gabriella Garza, Alexandrea Sprangers and Kyemomi O’Kimosh; a brother, Paul Keepseagle; and a sister, Clara Moya.
Germaine was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille Keepseagle, and her many aunts and uncles.
