Funeral services for Betty Lou DeMarrias, 60, of Mobridge, were held Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Stout Family Funeral Home.
Betty passed away May 7, 2014, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Betty Lou Bleyle DeMarrias was born March 6, 1954, in Aberdeen, to Walter and Lillian (Hettick) Bleyle. She was adopted at a young age by her aunt and uncle, Jacob and Mary Bleyle. Betty attended elementary school in Aberdeen before moving to Mobridge. She continued her education at United Tribes College in Bismarck, N.D., where she received clerical training.
Betty married Rolland James DeMarrias on May 8, 1974. To this union four sons were born, Ephriam, Shawn, Jacob and Jesse, and one adopted daughter, Lauren.
Betty had a big heart and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She took care of her grandson, Jayden, for a time until her health prevented her from continuing. When she became ill, she moved to Aberdeen, residing with her son Shawn, and grandson Preston. Later, because of declining health, Betty was transferred to Sioux Falls Avera Heart Hospital.
Betty always had a big smile on her face and was a very happy person. Over the years she had some clerical jobs, but mostly enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing card games (especially Blitz), and also liked watching old TV shows and her “soaps.”
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Ephriam (Kathleen) of Mobridge, Shawn of Aberdeen and Lauren (Myron) of Mobridge; sisters, Shirley (Bob) Speiring of Webster, Barbara Van Vleck, Dolly Grabick and Shirley Dillon all of Aberdeen, Phyllis (Jerry) Van Vleck of Kankakee, Ill., and Cindy (Marvin) Strong Heart of Mobridge; grandchildren, Arien, Jaya, Keena, Amya, Amani, Jesse and Ahliana of Mobridge, Deija and Deshaun of White River, Sarah and Kierra of Sioux Falls, Jayden of Rapid City and Preston of Aberdeen; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and cousins too numerous to list.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and adopted parents; sons, Jacob and Jesse; grandchildren, Tatum and Terron; and siblings, Frances, Pete, Jimmy and John.
