Investigation will lead to 20 arrests

Nearly a year of stolen property reports will conclude with about 20 people facing arrests in Mobridge on a variety of charges.

According to Mobridge Police Captain Al Bohle, a group of people stole items from local businesses, sold some of those items to local residents, who then sold the items to others in town.

Bohle said the investigation began to come together recently when three people were arrested in connection with a theft from a local business.

“Information was obtained from individuals involved that led to a search warrant for a residence in Mobridge,” said Bohle. “Stolen items were found at that residence.”

Bohle, with the help of the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, interviewed a number of people in connection with the theft and sales of the stolen property. Currently there have been six arrests made. He said when he finishes his report on the investigation, he will submit it to Walworth County State’s Attorney Jamie Hare, who will request arrest warrants for those who have not yet been arrested.

Bohle said grand theft charges would be filed against some of those involved as the value of the property exceeded the felony threshold. Some will be charged with misdemeanor theft charges.

Further information on this case will be published in future editions of the Tribune.
