11 residents charged with misdemeanors

Charges were filed against 11 Mobridge residents in an investigation of the sale and receipt of stolen property in Mobridge.
According to Walworth County State’s Attorney Jamie Hare, all charges are misdemeanors and the result of an ongoing Mobridge Police Department investigation of shoplifting and theft in Mobridge. Individuals would shoplift property from local merchants and then sell the stolen goods at a reduced price.
Hare said the state is alleging the following individuals possessed property of another and knew or should have known the property had been stolen: Ryan Wollman, a Class 1 misdemeanor; Richard Zimmerman, a Class 2 misdemeanor; Howard Bergman, a Class 2 misdemeanor, Connie Griffith, a Class 2 misdemeanor; Troy Hoff, a Class 2 misdemeanor; Kathryn While, a Class 1 misdemeanor; Gerald While, a Class 1 misdemeanor; Dana Merkel, a Class 2 misdemeanor; Cody Imberi, a Class 2 misdemeanor; Dwayne Gunther, a Class 2 misdemeanor; and John Bielawski, Sr., a Class 2 misdemeanor.
The punishment for a Class 1 misdemeanor in South Dakota is up to a one year confinement in a county jail or up to a $2,000 fine, or both, and for a Class 2 misdemeanor 30 days confinement in a county jail or up to a $500 fine, or both.
The court may order those found guilty to make restitution to any victim.
