First Annual Arts in the Park held in conjunction with Crazy Day
By Sara Bertsch
The city park is an excellent location for anyone to have a relaxing walk or look at the scenery. On August 2, people will find more than just flowers.
Beginning at 10 a.m. the first annual Arts in the Park event will kick off. According to Kayla Boysen, the visitor’s center coordinator at the Mobridge Chamber of Commerce, there is a little bit of everything.
There will be more than 20 artists and food vendors from near and far who will have a variety of items on display. These items include jewelry, clothing, books, food, blankets, beauty products, photography, and much more.
KJDJ will be at the event as well, adding a little flare for the event from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Boysen also noted that there would be a lip sync contest at 2 p.m. They encourage people to sign up quickly, because they are only allowing six contestants/groups in each age category. There will be three different age categories: 12 and under, 13 to 20, and 20 and up.
At the end of the competition, there will be three awards given to contestants. They are ‘Best of Show,’ ‘Most Hilarious’ and ‘E for Effort.’
There is another advantage for anyone who attends Arts in the Park. Park goers can sign up to win a $25 gift card from Lucky’s Gas N More as an added bonus to attending park festivities.
To sign up or find out more information, people can call the Mobridge Chamber of Commerce. There are still vendor spots available. Registration begins at 8 a.m. for vendors on Aug. 2.
“We hope to see everyone there and that vendors will come check us out,” Boysen said.
