Local men arrested on federal warrants

Two local men were arrested Wednesday, March 14, on federal warrants charging them with possession
of narcotics with intent to distribute. Officers arrested David Dekker, 51, of Mobridge at his home on Fourth Avenue East at 9:33 p.m. on Wednesday.

He was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of possession of a controlled substance, aiding and abetting and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Another man, Thomas Winston, 27, of Timber Lake, was served the warrant in the Walworth County Jail where he was being held on a related matter. He was also indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of possession of a controlled substance and assault by striking, beating and wounding. Those charges stem from an incident on Saturday, March 10, in which it was reported to an employee of a West Grand Crossing business that an assault was taking place in a vehicle near the business. Police arrested Winston and transported him to the Walworth County Jail.

The arrests were a joint effort between the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Mobridge Police Department.
