There will be some changes in next year's Garden Club annual flower, fruit and vegetable show according to suggestions made at a brief business meeting held following a picnic in the city park on Monday, Aug. 23.  Twelve members were present.

It was considered to hold the garden show two weeks earlier, to have categories available for beginning gardeners, and to have more participation by club members. Flower Show Guide Books will be ordered as thank you gifts to the judges. More ribbons will be ordered and new horticulture labels must be made. It was suggested that show information be mailed to people who have been active participants in the past to encourage them to enter again. A report on the show was given by its chairman, Virginia Sandmeier.

Phyllis Keszler urged as many as possible to attend the park board meeting to be held the following evening, Aug. 24, to discuss the maintenance of the flower beds in the city park. The Garden Club is willing to be in charge of the flower beds but would like help from the public in keeping the flower beds weeded and cared for. The next meeting, on Monday, Sept. 27, will be a work meeting in the park at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in helping is welcome to attend.

A discussion was held on the purchase of a bench for the park and possibly the funds for a bench could come from the Knudson and Bieber donations.

Funds to be raised at Beef 'n Fun Day will be used for the State Garden Club Convention to be held in 2012 in Mobridge.
