Something sad has happened to liberalism. Historically, liberals often defended individual human rights against government coercion. Liberals are supposed to be the good guys defending free speech, open mindedness, free inquiry and the rule of law. Maybe they changed when they switched from defending equal opportunity to opposing it and demanding equal results.
