Melvin Rieker dedicated life to serving his community

Funeral services for Melvin Rieker, 89, of Herreid, were held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Peace Lutheran Church in Herreid. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Herreid, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Melvin passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Dean Shillingstad passes

Dean Shillingstad, 83, of Selby, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Mobridge Regional Hospital from complications of dementia and pneumonia. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural Glenham.

The Lady Tigers opened the postseason by continuing their mastery of McLaughlin. The Lady Tigers beat the Mustangs 3-0 in the Region 3A semifinals at Mobridge-Pollock High School Gym. With the win, the Lady Tigers advance to the Sweet 16 where they will play Pine Ridge in Pierre at Riggs High School Gymnasium on Thursday at 7 p.m.
