A boneheaded move, followed by an outburst from the people, other politicians and the president-elect has changed the course of the 2017 Congress and maybe proved that this republic is not as broken as we think.
In 2016, many stories made headlines in the Mobridge area. Some were heart wrenching, while others were long awaited and were good news. The following are the top news stories of 2016, as compiled by the Tribune staff.
Funeral services for Carroll Brockel, 86, of Mobridge, were held on Dec. 31, 2016, at the Family Worship Center in Mobridge. Burial was in Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Carroll passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Memorial services for Alvina S. Dobler, 77, of Mobridge, were held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at Kesling Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.Alvina passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Robin Leroy Davis, age 56 of Hot Springs, passed away on Dec. 20, 2016, at his home in Hot Springs.
Mass of Christian Burial for Janice K. Kraft, 65, of Aberdeen and formerly of McLaughlin, was held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in McLaughlin with Rev. Fr. Michel Mulloy officiating.
Edward C. Ryckman, 76, Pollock, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at his home. Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Pollock with Reverend Floyd Haan officiating.
Michael Paul Scheafbauer, 92, of Bella Vista Ark., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016.
