Brad Berg was the best uncle anyone could ever ask for

Bradley Ray Berg, 60, lost his hard-fought battle with COVID-19 on Nov. 21, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
A private family service was held with a memorial to be held at a later date.
Brad was born to Marvin and Esther Schlecht Berg at Mobridge Hospital on June 15, 1960. He spent his first four years in Akaska, then the family lived in Ipswich from that time he was in kindergarten though third grade. The Berg family made their final move to Mobridge where Brad attended school and graduated with the Class of 1979.
Brad worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 29 years and most recently worked as a rural mail carrier.
He was one of those guys who would do anything for anyone and always had a smile on his face. You were only a stranger but once.
He loved sports and played softball with Rick’s Killer Bees and also played city league basketball. He retired from playing after knee surgery but his love for sports continued and he was an avid fan of the Vikings and the Twins. He loved vacationing, attending sporting events and concerts with his family.
Brad was the best uncle any kid could ask for. He was always the one wrestling on the floor or playing Nerf basketball with his nieces and nephew was well at great nieces and nephews when they came along. The funniest (and sometimes most inappropriate) birthday cards were always from Brad. He loved family gatherings, picnics and camping. He was the designated scrambled egg maker for camping weekends.
Grateful for having shared Brad’s life are his mother, Esther Berg; brothers, Ron (Marcia) and Ken (Vicki), all of Mobridge; sister, Tammy (Dan) Hicks of Aberdeen; nieces, Jodi (Shawn) Madison of Mobridge, Jennifer (Randy) Tester of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Brittany (Jason) Mertz of Boise, Idaho; nephew, Brady (Jaci) Berg of Aberdeen; great-nieces, Shawna, Grace and Sophie Madison, Chloe and Stella Tester, Anika and Berlin Berg, and Piper and Lucy Mertz; and great-nephew, Jaden Madison.
Brad was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Berg; and brothers, Gregory Berg and Alan “Fred” Berg.
