Cross country teams hosts annual invitational at Oahe Hills on Saturday



The Mobridge-Pollock cross country team opens the new season at home, hosting the Mobridge-Pollock Invitational at Oahe Hills Golf Course on Saturday morning.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., the invitational will feature 5,000-meter races for varsity boys and girls, a 3,000-meter race for junior varsity boys and girls, a 1,600-meter race for junior high boys and girls and a fun run.

This year’s Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers team under second-year coach J.J. Beadle features returning varsity runners in senior Emma Fulkerson and sophomore Abby Keller, along with seventh graders Mariah Goehring, Katie Keller and Heidi Olson. Running for the Tigers are junior Isaac Olson, freshmen Kamron Pearman and Blaise Thompson, eighth grader Chad Good Shield and seventh grader Remmington Ford.

Teams invited to run at Oahe Hills on Saturday are Ipswich, Lemmon, Stanley County, Potter County, Aberdeen Roncalli, Faith, Timber Lake, Miller, Wakpala, Warner, Aberdeen Christian, McIntosh, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, Edmunds Central, Harding County, Sully Buttes, Redfield/Doland, Groton Area, Britton-Hecla, Webster Area, McLaughlin, Dupree, Faulkton Area, Bison, Wessington Springs, Herreid/Selby Area, Eureka/Bowdle, Takini, and Standing Rock and Solen, N.D.

The rest of the cross country regular season is: Roe Granger in Aberdeen, Sept. 1; Big Dakota Conference Meet in Chamberlain, Sept. 14; Faulkton Invitational, Sept. 20; Lemmon Invitational, Sept. 25; and Central South Dakota Conference Meet, Oct. 4.
