Irene Jundt passes in Rapid City


Irene Lilly Jundt, 92, of Rapid City, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at Rapid City.
Irene Lilly Link was born Oct. 12, 1921, at Hillsview, the second of five children to John K. and Katie Schneider Link.
Irene grew to adulthood and attended school at McLaughlin, graduating from McLaughlin High School with the Class of 1940.
She married Emil Jundt on Jan. 1, 1942, in McLaughlin. They lived in McLaughlin until 1962 when they moved to Mobridge where Emil was a partner in the Ford/Mercury dealership. After retirement they moved to Black Hawk.
Irene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and was an excellent bridge card player. Irene also enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her homemade pies.
Irene is survived by her husband, Emil Jundt of Rapid City; two sons, Kenton (Marlys) Jundt of Mobridge and Ward Jundt of Mobridge; three daughters, Pamela Rector of Glasgow, Mont., Brenda Cross of Rapid City and Terry (Merle) Werner of Larkspur, Colo.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herbert Link.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Viola Bauer; and two brothers, Eugene and Roy Link.
Funerals services were held Tuesday, May 12, 2014, at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Interment was at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
