Keith Lemburg was a lifelong Selby man

Keith Robert Lemburg, 83, Selby, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the Bowdle Nursing Home. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at the Selby United Methodist Church with Pastor Darla Hadrick leading the service.
Burial follows at Selby Memorial Gardens.
Musicians will be Bev Sawinsky and Pat Russell. Ushers will be Steve Zabel and Duane Zabel.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Keith Robert Lemburg, son of Minnie (Zabel) and William Lemburg, was born Jan. 13, 1935, at Mobridge. He was brought up on the Lemburg farm seven miles southwest of Selby. He attended school in Selby, graduating with the Selby High School Class of 1953.
Following his schooling, he farmed with his parents and worked at the Selby Co-op.
Keith married Viola Russell on May 4, 1956, in Selby. He farmed for a few years and from 1960 to 1970 owned and managed Selby Produce. He then worked as a salesman at Selby Implement for six years. In 1976, he purchased the business from Dale Mayer and renamed it Great Plains Implement, which he operated from 1991 until his retirement in 2003. Keith was a salesman at Zabel Implement in Selby and then Haberer Implement in Mobridge. He was a member of Selby United Methodist Church which he served as president and trustee of the administrative board. He was also a member of Hiddenwood Sportsman’s Club and May Acres Country Club. He was active in the community of Selby where he was a volunteer firefighter, served on the city council and also served as Selby’s Mayor for two terms. Keith enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, woodworking and took pride in his yard.
Keith is survived by Vi, his wife of 62 years; one son, Craig (Cathy) Lemburg of Timber Lake; two daughters, Donel (Kent) Ochsner of Sioux Falls and Kay (Jon) Schilling of Neligh, Neb.; one brother, Dean Lemburg, of Selby; six grandchildren, Kyrie Lemburg, Clint Lemburg, Miranda Ochsner, Tonya Feit, Derek Schilling and Drew Shilling; and two great grandchildren, Victoria Feit and Mason Hollenbeck.
He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 29, 1989; his mother on June 2, 2004; his sister, Shirley Moos; and one brother, Dale.
Honorary bearers will be Keith’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Cindy Stoick of Fargo, N.D., and Vonnie Reuer of Hoven will be the urn bearers.
Services are in care of Lien Funeral Home, Bowdle.
