Lady Tigers play well, can’t top Cheyenne-Eagle Butte

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte got the game started on a 15-4 run and held their lead for most of the game in beating the Lady Tigers 42-29 in Eagle Butte on Saturday.
“We didn’t play too bad,” said coach Lindsey Bachman. “It was a fun game. It was nice to see the that the girls didn’t give up and stayed aggressive after we got behind early.”
LaDonna Chasing Hawk led the Braves’ quarter run. She wrapped two three-pointers around an offensive rebound basket for a personal eight-point run that gave the Braves an 11-2 lead.
The Lady Tigers opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run when Megan Zahn scored twice from the inside and Jadin Monsen sank a shot from the outside to cut the lead to 15-11, but the Braves held on and led 20-14 at the half.
Mia Paris hit two baskets and Chantelle Sheppard Foster hit two free throws, giving the Braves the first six points of the second half and a 26-14 lead.
Hannah Stroeder scored four straight points late in the third quarter to cut the lead to 27-20, but Sunni Dupris hit a three-pointer to end the third quarter and Chasing Hawk hit one to start the fourth quarter, lifting the lead back to 13 points. The Lady Tigers did not hit back-to-back baskets the rest of the way and the Braves held on for the 13-point win.
Megan Zahn led the Lady Tigers with 10 points. Stroeder and Monsen followed with seven points. Jestice Talley was five of seven from the free throw line. Stroeder and Zahn had huge nights on the boards with 13 and 12 rebounds, respectively.
“Megan and Hannah were really aggressive,” said Bachman. “That was nice to see.”
Chasing Hawk led the Braves with a game-high 13 points. Sheppard Foster followed with 10.

Crow Creek
Undefeated Crow Creek went on an 11-2 run to end the first quarter and an 8-2 run to start the second quarter and pulled away for a 60-30 win over the Lady Tigers at Mobridge-Pollock High School Gym on Friday.
While she felt her Lady Tigers played hard on defense, Bachman was complimentary on how talented a team the Lady Chieftains are.
“That was a tough match-up,” said Bachman. “They’re good. With the weapons they have, they are going to be hard for anyone to beat.”
Marveen Ross led the Lady Chieftains with a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds. She hit four three-pointers, including one from 38 feet to end the first half. Lanie Crazy Bull scored 13 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
