Man arrested on multiple drug charges

Mobridge Police executed a search warrant on Friday, Sept. 16, at a Third Avenue East residence, after drug activity was indicated at that location.
According to Mobridge Police Chief Shawn Madison, the search warrant request was based on indications of drug activity in the residence when officers answered a call earlier this month.
He said a caller reported an unresponsive male at the Third Avenue home. When officers and emergency medical assistance arrived, the individual regained consciousness but was transported to Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics for medical care.
While on the scene, an officer noticed indications of possible drug use in the home and used that information to request a search warrant.
Madison said there were two individuals that the department would have liked to include in the search warrant, but one of those individuals thought to be involved did not return to the home.
Officers executed the warrant on Friday, finding drugs, and drug paraphernalia. They arrested Gene Wayne Ahlstrom, Jr., of Fort Pierre and charged him with possession of a controlled substance, ingestion of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
A urine analysis showed Ahlstrom was positive for methamphetamine, MDMA (Molly) and amphetamines.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Beadle County Jail to await his appearance in Fifth Circuit Court.
Officers from the MPD, the Walworth County and Campbell County Sheriff’s offices were involved in the executing the warrant and the investigation.
